The Commercial Analysis (CA) department provides detailed commercial insights, market analysis and analytical support service to RWE’s businesses for all technologies across the globe. Our objective is to support the acceleration to Net Zero by steering the business towards markets, technologies and monetization concepts with highest commercial value.

The Auction team functions as expert hub for auction expertise. Currently, the majority of applications are on Renewables auctions (CFD and Lease). Hydrogen and Electrolyser auction support is also in scope for the future. This role will focus on applying game theory to derive optimal bidding behaviors both on project specific and more generic levels.

You will be part of a highly dynamic, international and geographically diverse team with a wide variety of stakeholders across many of the core business areas RWE has to offer.

• Support the development of bidding strategies by analysing auction mechanisms with focus on game theory elements and optimal bidding behaviour
• Provide assessments and recommendations on auction mechanisms for regulatory interactions and effects on RWE projects and bidding behaviour
• Drive RWE’s auction analysis tools and frameworks, ensuring consistency and delivering bid strategy support for all of RWE’s technologies and markets
• Develop and implement statistical metrics to measure and improve auction forecast quality
• Support the strategy departments by assessing attractiveness of different markets and auction regimes
  

Your powerful skills

• Degree in an analytical / numerical subject, preferably in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics
• Distinct knowledge of game theory and/or experience in auction processes
• Professional experience in the energy sector, auction modelling or related industry
• Distinct ability to analyse and structure complex topics to present comprehensible solutions to a wide range of stakeholders, including adequate communication to a (senior) management-level audience (both written and verbal)
• Good programming skills and/or strong Microsoft Excel knowledge, ability to use functionalities at an expert level and/or implement numerical models or data processing routines in for example python
• The ability to communicate clearly and in managing a good relationship with business partners or other external stakeholders
• Entrepreneurial spirit: highly proactive, identifying value opportunities and proposing solutions to them under own initiative
• Enthusiastic about learning and pushing technical limits and finding new solutions / out of the box thinking
